Eliminating sagging or loose skin in the outer and inner thighs is difficult to achieve with diet and exercise alone. At Hanemann Plastic Surgery, our thigh lift surgery can tighten and tone these areas to improve lower body contours and increase self-confidence.

Hanemann Plastic Surgery serves the Baton Rouge area with both surgical and nonsurgical procedures for the face, breast, body and skin. Contact us today to schedule a consultation with board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Hanemann.

What is a Thigh Lift?

Designed to tighten skin and reduce sagging in the inner and outer thighs, thigh lift surgery is commonly performed on men and women who have experienced significant weight loss.

During a thigh lift procedure, incisions are made depending on which area of the thigh is being treated:

  • Inner thigh lift surgery involves an incision in the groin crease, and typically the pubic area is shaved clean as stray hairs can affect the incisions.
  • For outer thigh lift surgery, the incision is created up near the hip bone and carefully placed underneath the underwear line.

Incision placement and the resulting scarring will be discussed with you prior to surgery, and incisions will be created as discretely as possible to minimize visible surgical scars after you heal.

For both types of thigh lifts, excess skin and fat are removed and the remaining skin is repositioned to a more elevated position, tightening and adding better definition to the thighs.

Am I a Good Candidate for Thigh Lift Surgery?

Doctor Hanemann will evaluate your overall health, medical history, cosmetic goals and expectations and perform a physical evaluation before determining whether you are a  candidate for thigh lift surgery. All possible risks and complications will also be explained to you, and you will be given instructions on how to prepare for your surgery.

What is the Recovery Like?

After thigh lift surgery, a typical recovery time is three weeks. Bed rest is generally recommended for a week, and bruising and swelling may be present for several weeks. Doctor Hanemann will prescribe pain medication to you for any post-surgical discomfort you may feel, and a compression garment may need to be worn during healing to promote skin tightening and control swelling.

The full results of your thigh lift surgery will be evident after all swelling and bruising subsides. Your healing and progress will be monitored by Dr. Hanemann during follow-up appointments.

Although the results of thigh lift surgery are meant to be long-lasting, patients should adopt a lifestyle of proper diet and exercise in order to maintain results.
